The Waterman's Daughter
The Waterman's Daughter
This one-woman musical drama focuses in on the life of an unconventional and original woman named Lilyan Stratton Corbin. She was an author, actress, and philanthropist who grew up in the remote town of Criseld, MD, during the Chesapeake Bay Oyster boom in the late 1800s. After running away from home at age 16, in 1898, Lilyan went from the stage, to the screen, to the page, and later became the namesake for the Criseld library. She was a self made success and most known for her stage role in The Virginian (which toured the USA several times), her marriage to the silent lm star Frank Campeau, their famous divorce, and her books Reno, Homing, The Wife’s Lessons, and the Feminine Philosophy. Lilyans’ unique character will be brought to life through the lens of a musical storytelling sister name Rose ( featuring 7 new original songs) who stayed in their hometown of Criseld and exchanged letters with her sister.

Drawing from the Americana tradition and firmly grounded with a pleasing pop sensibility, the performing songwriter team, Jen and Scott Smith, and their band, Naked Blue, have become a mainstay on the folk/pop scene. They quit their day jobs in 1991 and have been writing, recording & performing since, with 6 full length albums and performances in 6 countries. Scott & Jen's obvious joy & camaraderie on stage together and easy rapport with their audience are the backdrop to their trademark performance, defined by Jen's instantly recognizable smoky & vulnerable voice and Scott's passionate and impeccable guitar work. Over the years they've developed a reputation for great songwriting as well and their songwriting credits include cuts on Evangeline's 'French Quarter Moon' Margaritaville/MCA, Troy Turner's latest single on Telarc Records.

Throughout their career they've had the opportunity to work with a host of fine artists; sharing stages with John Mayer, Joe Cocker, Jeffrey Gaines, Aimee Mann to name a few. Scott & Jen's Wood and Stone Room recording studio and Wood and Stone Songwriting Retreat has led to production and collaboration credits on a list of songwriting “who's who” and Mid-Atlantic music luminaries including Jennifer Daniels, Arlon Bennett, Tony Denikos, Wyatt Easterling, Cassidy Ford, Eric Scott, Mary Sue Twohy, We're About 9, ellen cherry, Todd Wright, Jon Carroll, Guggenheim Grotto, Anne McCue, Beggars Ride, Patty Reese, Mary Ann Redmond, Phil Madeira, Beth Wood, Mobtown Moon, Christian Lopez, Paul Pfau, Austin Ellis, Beki Hemingway, Luke Brindley and more.

Their music has been featured in film & television spots on The Young & the Restless, Brooklyn South, Jack & Jill, That's Life, America's Top Model, Mein Leben & Ich and in the films The Girl Next Door, About Sarah, June, Sex Drugs & Democracy, The Smokers and Second to Die.
