Multiple award-winning Barbra Streisand Tribute Artist, ******, has been described as “funny”, “charismatic”, “can improvise on the spot”, “creates the perfect illusion as Streisand”, “has Streisand’s signature phrasing, timing and vocal mannerisms”.
[This artist] has entertained across the country from Miami to Las Vegas to New York City. From the hair, down to the trademark nails, and wearing meticulously detailed replicas of iconic concert gowns, she is "Simply Streisand" in every way. [Her] jaw-dropping recreation evokes the excitement and high energy vocals of Streisand’s most powerful numbers, as well as the beauty and purity of sound essential for the ballads so closely associated with this greatest of all singing actresses. Her keen sense of comedic timing, and ability to ad-lib, add to the overall illusion of portraying the original “Funny Girl”. She has entertained at Theatres, Performing Arts Centers, private parties and corporate events, benefits and fundraisers, Synagogues, Jewish Community Centers, and Adult Communities, all over the country, and has performed several times on the Legends Stage, at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. Her NYC debut, where she did three “completely different” cabaret shows at the Laurie Beechman Theatre garnered her RAVE reviews.
A reviewer from the BISTRO AWARDS had this to say: “… anyone who can sing the wide-ranging Streisand songbook this well certainly has a terrific voice of her own. I can’t wait to see her in a cabaret as herself.” “It’s a pleasure to say HELLO CARLA, and please hurry back here where you belong: on a New York nightclub stage.”
In June of 2012, [she] had the distinct honor and privilege of being asked to perform at the legendary Bon Soir nightclub in NYC. The Bon Soir is where Barbra Streisand was discovered in the early 1960s. The club has now been renovated and re-opened under the name “Pink Elephant”. [She] was asked to be the performer to “re-open” the new venue (and is the ONLY tribute artist to have ever performed there) – the same space that once thrilled to the sound of a young Barbra Streisand.
Of that performance, Simply-Showbiz said:
“[This artist] demonstrated a spooky ability to channel the icon, at times you would swear you were seeing a hologram of a teenage Streisand”.
[Her] early training was in Opera and she received her Masters of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from SUNY-Binghamton, NY. In addition to singing many of the great soprano roles in the opera repertory (Musetta, in La Boheme, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Antonia and Giulietta in The Tales of Hoffmann, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, to name but a few) she has also done a great deal of work as an orchestra, oratorio and recital soloist with repertoire ranging from Mozart to Massenet, and Bernstein to Sondheim. She made her European debut as Violetta in La Traviata, in the Czech Republic, and also had the honor to sing for former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, and dignitaries of the Czech and Polish Embassys, in Washington, D.C..
Today, in addition to her busy traveling schedule performing her tribute to Streisand, [she] teaches Private Voice, Vocal Performance Classes and an Opera-Theatre Workshop class, at Valencia College, in Orlando.
"When I was 12 or 13 years old, that's when I first wanted to sing," Sands says. "My family played Sinatra records all the time, and I started singing along. The next thing I knew, I just fell in love with his music...and here I am." His silky, mesmerizing, and tantalizing rendition of the 'Chairman of the Board's' style, has caught the eye of the entertainment community, and audiences from around the country. Tony has performed at many Manhattan restaurants, Zanzibar Blue Jazz Club in Philadelphia, The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia, The Harvard Club in New York City, and The Breakers Hotel, just to name a select few. During the winter months, Tony performs at various venues in Florida, such as Country Clubs, to standing ovations every night. Tony’s impressive resume includes performances at Tropicana Casino & Resort, Trump Castle & Casino, and Harrah’s Hotel & Casino, all in Atlantic City. His performances in Reno, Nevada at the Eldorado Resort Casino have been sold out, time after time. Tony has also made multiple television appearances up and down the east coast. 'Rat Pack Together Again,' is a widespread favorite show that Tony produced in 2010. His portrayal of 'The Legend,' in this revue is 'spot on!' Tony's most current production is a never before seen musical journey about the life and times of the late Frank Sinatra called, 'It Was A Very Good Year,' starring Tony Sands as 'The Voice.' This production includes all of Tony's best loved songs, as well as Sinatra's! From the early days with Tommy Dorsey, to the bright lights of New York City, and the silver screen of Hollywood, leading up to Sinatra's 'Main Event' comeback, this one of a kind musical tribute to the late Frank Sinatra is a 'Must See!' Tony captivates his audiences with the mannerisms, illusion, and romance that have made him one of the most popular entertainers around. 'Luck Be A Lady' is one of Tony's favorite Sinatra tune.
